Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation Campaign Draws Wide Support Across Turkey

The Turkish Red Crescent organized blood‑donation drives in multiple Turkish cities, promoting the slogan “1 unit of blood saves three lives.” In Küçükçekmeme, Istanbul district, Kaymakam Mustafa Anteplioğlu visited the collection point at Atatürk Park and praised donors, while Deputy Mayor Gökhan Aygün highlighted the social‑responsibility aspect of the campaign.

In Samsun, the “Birbirimize Candan Bağlıyız” (We Are Heart‑Linked to Each Other) campaign featured participation from drivers’ unions, local officials and civil‑society groups. Governor Orhan Tavlı addressed attendees, emphasizing that regular blood donations are a continual need. Both events saw large volunteer turnout, with blood units separated into red cells, plasma and platelets to treat three different patients each.

The campaigns are part of an ongoing program coordinated by the Turkish Red Crescent, local municipalities and various NGOs, with plans to continue the blood‑collection drive at additional sites throughout the country.
