Turkish Red Crescent launches Hilal Köşem project in Niğde

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has launched the “Hilal Köşem” project at Cumhuriyet Primary School in Niğde to foster humanitarian awareness among young students. The initiative aims to instill values of solidarity, donation, and volunteerism from an early age.

As part of the project, an “Tree of Kindness” will be used to display pictures of selected students each month, symbolizing the growth of good deeds. Additionally, a “Volunteer of the Month” will be recognized to encourage social development and responsibility. The project opening was attended by local officials, including Niğde Red Crescent Branch President Akile Töre Gençoğlu and Young Red Crescent Niğde President Ceyda Sakarya.

The initiative coincides with Red Crescent Week, which is observed annually in Turkey from October 29 to November 4. During this period, educational institutions conduct awareness activities to teach students about humanitarian principles, disaster response, and the importance of blood donation.
