Turkish Red Crescent opens new soup kitchen in Kars

The Turkish Red Crescent has officially opened a new soup kitchen in Kars as part of its ‘81 Soup Kitchens in 81 Provinces’ project. The facility is designed to provide hot meals to approximately 7,000 people during extraordinary circumstances or disasters.

In addition to emergency response, the center will serve as a hub for daily social support. Volunteers will deliver meals directly to the homes of the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who have difficulty leaving their houses. During these deliveries, volunteers will monitor the well-being of residents and record any additional needs, such as medical or transportation assistance, to refer them to the appropriate institutions.

Turkish Red Crescent President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz stated that 45 soup kitchens are currently operational, with 35 more in various stages of development. She noted that 20 of these new facilities are expected to open within the next six months.
