Turkish Red Crescent reports blood donation trends for 2026

The Turkish Red Crescent has released blood donation data for the first eight months of 2026. During this period, a total of 2,074,440 units of blood were collected.

Data indicates that the highest rate of blood donation occurred among 20-year-olds, followed by donors aged 21 and 19. Additionally, the proportion of female donors increased from 13.39% in the first eight months of 2025 to 14.47% during the same period this year.

While blood donations typically decline during the summer holiday season, the June-August period saw 761,040 units collected, representing a 7.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The organization attributed this growth largely to the regular participation of young donors.
