The Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılay) has announced that its 'Gönüllü Ol' (Be a Volunteer) platform has surpassed 500,000 registered members since its launch in 2020.
The platform connects volunteers with tasks across 33 different fields, including disaster and emergency response, first aid, social assistance, elderly and patient care, psychosocial services, blood and stem cell donation, environmental efforts, translation, logistics, and education.
Demographic data shows that young people aged 18–30 comprise 59.6% of the total volunteer base. Women also maintain a significant presence, with their representation rising from 62% in recent years to 63.5% currently. The organization utilizes specialized groups such as Young Red Crescent, Red Crescent Women, and Red Crescent for the Disabled to expand its network across the country.
