Turkey reinstates mandatory emblems for school uniforms

The Turkish Ministry of National Education has reintroduced the mandatory use of school emblems on student uniforms. This regulation, published on July 22, aims to enhance security, order, and discipline within schools.

Mustafa Erçin, Vice President of the Federation of School Uniform Manufacturers and Sellers (TOKÜSFED), stated that the move addresses issues encountered during the previous period of plain clothing. He noted that the regulation allows schools to choose their preferred models, provided they update them at least every four years.

From an economic perspective, Erçin highlighted that purchasing ready-made uniforms with pre-sewn emblems is more cost-effective for parents. He noted that adding an emblem to plain clothing via a tailor can cost between 200 and 250 TL, whereas the price difference for ready-made emblemmed products is often no more than 50 TL. The school uniform sector is reported to be 100% domestic, utilizing local materials and production.
