Singer Nev dies at 57 from liver failure

Turkish pop-rock singer Nevzat Doğansoy, known professionally as Nev, has passed away at the age of 57. He died at the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital following a battle with liver failure and multiple organ failure.

His manager, İlker Ercan, noted that the singer's health had declined significantly following the loss of his mother two years ago. Doğansoy had been hospitalized since September 3, 2026, after experiencing a loss of consciousness, and had undergone intensive care and intubation during his treatment.

A funeral service was held at the Marmara University Faculty of Theology Mosque in Üsküdar, attended by family, friends, and prominent figures including AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu and author Sunay Akın. In a symbolic gesture, a Galatasaray football jersey was placed on his coffin. He was laid to rest at Karacaahmet Cemetery.

Nev rose to prominence with his 2001 album ‘Her Şeye Rağmen’ and hits such as ‘Zor’, ‘Sen Gibi’, and ‘Mühürlü Kaderim’. At the time of his death, he was reportedly working on a new sea-themed musical project.
