Turkish Space Agency hosts regional youth space camp in Izmir

The Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and Space Camp Turkey organized the ‘TUA Space Explorers Turkey Space Camp Program’ in Izmir from August 23 to 29, 2026. The initiative brought together 65 students and 12 teachers from member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Northern Cyprus.

The program aimed to strengthen scientific cooperation, cultural interaction, and interest in space sciences among youth within the Turkic world. Participants received scholarships from Space Camp Turkey, which covered accommodation, education, and all camp activity expenses. In addition to space and science training, students participated in cultural activities to promote peer communication and a shared scientific vision.

During the certificate ceremony, TUA President Yusuf Kıraç emphasized the importance of science and space studies for the future of the Turkic world, stating that the participants represent the future of their nations and the broader region. Dr. Faruk Güler, Vice Chairman of ESBAŞ, noted that Space Camp Turkey has hosted over 300,000 young people from 60 different countries to date, fostering problem-solving skills and lasting friendships through shared goals.
