Turkish students secure nine awards at 2026 Regeneron ISEF in Arizona
Twenty‑seven Turkish students competed at the 2026 International Regeneron ISEF science fair in Arizona, USA, submitting 13 projects. Nine of those projects earned awards: four Grand Awards, two Second‑Place Awards, two Fourth‑Place Awards and one Special Award.
The competition drew about 1,800 students from 80 countries, with total prize money of roughly $7 million. Notably, a team from Batman—Sinan Güneş, Eren Aygün and Eyüp Bilir—won recognition for an eye‑tracking app that enables ALS patients to communicate using only eye movements. Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, praised the achievements on the social‑media platform X.
The success highlights Turkey’s growing capacity in youth science and engineering research on the global stage.
