Turkish towns launch water‑supply projects ahead of summer demand

Honaz municipality in Turkey announced the addition of a reinforcement line to the Emirazizli irrigation canal to safeguard against summer water shortages. Mayor Yüksel Kepenek said the canal delivers about 250 litres per second and the extra line will ensure continuous supply for all neighbourhoods during periods of low water levels.

Bursa Water and Sewerage Administration (BUSKİ) opened a large‑scale investment to strengthen Nilüfer district’s water infrastructure. The "Nilüfer Kuruçeşme Water Intake and Transmission Pipe" project, covering 34 contract items, will begin after a tender scheduled for 17 June 2026 and is planned for completion within 250 calendar days. The work aims to meet growing domestic‑water demand driven by population growth and new housing developments, providing a more resilient drinking‑water supply for Kuruçeşme and surrounding areas.
