Turkey foreign trade deficit rises to $7.343 billion in July
Turkey's foreign trade data for July 2026 shows a 2.9% increase in exports, reaching $25.623 billion, while imports rose 5.1% to $32.966 billion. This growth in imports led to a 13.6% year-on-year increase in the monthly foreign trade deficit, which reached $7.343 billion. For the first seven months of the year, total exports reached $161.539 billion, while imports totaled $222.85 billion, resulting in a cumulative trade deficit of $60.545 billion, an 8.3% increase compared to the previous year.
Manufacturing remains the dominant sector, accounting for 94.4% of total exports in July. Germany was the primary export destination with $2.042 billion in sales, followed by the United States and the United Kingdom. China was the leading import source, totaling $5.04 billion.
In terms of sectoral support, Türk Eximbank provided $32 billion in export support during the first half of the year, consisting of $15.8 billion in credit and $16.2 billion in insurance and guarantee support. Additionally, the fresh fruit export sector saw a significant milestone, with seven-month exports exceeding $1 billion, a 59% increase from the previous year.
