Turkish trade offices impose fines after market inspections in Eskişehir and Tunceli

The Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Trade reported that in July it inspected 11,782 products across 261 firms. Checks covered price tags, shelf‑vs‑register price consistency and other consumer‑rights issues. Violations led to administrative fines totalling 1,380,517 Turkish lira. A separate review of 405 items flagged for unfair price increases was forwarded to the Ministry of Trade’s Unfair Price Evaluation Board.

In Tunceli, the provincial trade directorate inspected 440 products in 42 firms located in tourist areas. After identifying breaches of pricing and consumer‑protection regulations, six firms that had previously been warned received administrative sanctions. Both directorates said inspections will continue throughout the summer to protect consumers, and they reminded the public that complaints can be filed via the Alo 175 consumer line, CİMER, the e‑Government portal and related mobile applications.
