Turkish Transport Minister Uraloğlu Announces Start of Development Road Project in Baghdad

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Ali ez‑Zeydi, Iraqi Transport Minister Vehb Selman El‑Haseni and other officials in Baghdad. He said the Development Road Project, a regional transport corridor linking Turkey and Iraq, has reached the final stage and that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held within the year. The ministers discussed cooperation on the corridor from Fav Port to Europe, potential fiber‑optic links, and financing arrangements to be finalised in a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Uraloğlu stressed the corridor’s strategic importance amid regional crises, noting that "this year we will lay the foundation" and that both sides aim to complete the project in "a hand‑span of time". The dialogue highlighted plans to strengthen bilateral transport links and broader economic integration.
