Turkish Universities Boost AI Research and Career Guidance Programs
Özyeğin University in Istanbul announced the creation of six new research centers—HealthTech, Physical AI & Robotics, Next‑Gen AI Technologies, Integrated Energy Initiative, WISE (Work, Inclusion and Social Equality), and the Istanbul Design Institute—raising its total number of centers to 13 and targeting strategic areas such as health technology, artificial intelligence, energy and social transformation.
Konya Technical University hosted a public event titled “Future Professions in the Age of AI” for prospective students and their families. Faculty members Prof. Dr. Murat Ceylan, Prof. Dr. Bayram Akdemir, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Hayri İncekara and Arş. Gör. Seda Çalışkan presented how AI is reshaping the labour market, the emergence of new career pathways and the digital competencies needed for future work.
Fatih Sultan Mehmet University’s AI and Data Engineering department head Dr. Zeki Kuş warned that artificial intelligence will not eliminate jobs but will transform them. He emphasized that routine tasks will be automated while skills such as technological literacy, mental flexibility, analytical thinking and the ability to collaborate with AI systems will become decisive for career success.
