Turkish Used-Car Market Warns Buyers to Verify Digital Information

Motorlu Araç Satıcıları Federasyonu (MASFED) president Aydın Erkoç said that the majority of used‑car searches and transactions now take place on online platforms. He warned that, beyond checking the vehicle's mechanical condition and official inspection reports, consumers must also scrutinise the digital content presented in listings – photos, mileage records, damage history and the seller’s profile – because misinformation and manipulation are rising risks.

Erkoç emphasized that purchases made through authorised, licence‑holding firms provide better legal protection and after‑sales support. He urged buyers to cross‑check official vehicle‑history data, verify the seller’s credentials and treat digital documents with the same caution as physical ones. The Turkish used‑car market handles millions of vehicle transfers each year, making consumer awareness essential for safe and trustworthy trade.
