Turkish municipalities implement water and stormwater infrastructure projects

Various Turkish municipalities and regional authorities are implementing infrastructure projects and maintenance to address water management and supply issues.

In Antalya, the ASAT General Directorate is investing approximately 210 million TL to construct 12 kilometers of stormwater lines across six neighborhoods in Muratpaşa, Konyaaltı, and Kepez. The project aims to prevent flooding and transportation disruptions during heavy rainfall.

In Diyarbakır, the DİSKİ General Directorate is launching a project to draw 50 liters of water per second from the Kulp Stream to support the drinking water needs of the Kulp district. The system will utilize modular steel structures to minimize environmental impact and allow for easy relocation during floods.

In Manisa, MASKİ is accelerating the cleaning of stormwater grates to prevent flooding ahead of the autumn rainy season. Meanwhile, in Kahramanmaraş, KASKİ has issued warnings to residents in high-rise buildings regarding water pressure, emphasizing the necessity of well-maintained booster pump systems.

In Çanakkale, AK Party MP Ayhan Gider addressed water shortages in the Kepez district, calling for better cooperation between local municipalities and the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) to ensure efficient water distribution from the Atikhisar Dam.
