Turkmenistan advances EXPO 2027 preparations and bilateral ties with Bangladesh

Turkmenistan has authorized the construction of its national pavilion for EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from May 15 to August 15, 2027. The Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations will oversee the project. The exhibition, themed ‘Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All’, expects over 130 participating countries and four million visitors.

Separately, officials from Bangladesh and Turkmenistan met in Ashgabat to discuss strengthening bilateral ties. The discussions focused on energy security, with Turkmenistan expressing interest in supporting Bangladesh’s energy needs through its natural gas and oil reserves. Other areas of potential cooperation include the ready-made garment and cotton sectors, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and petrochemicals. The two nations agreed to develop a ‘Program of Action: 2027-2029’ to formalize cooperation in trade, economy, and culture.
