Turkmenistan advances regional integration and WTO accession efforts
Turkmenistan is engaging in several multilateral initiatives focused on economic integration, education, and regional connectivity. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Russian Federation, is conducting training sessions to strengthen national capacity for Turkmenistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). These sessions cover international trade rules, industrial policy, and dispute settlement mechanisms.
In the realm of regional infrastructure, officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are meeting in Ashgabat for the fifth DARYA High-Level Group meeting. This EU-funded project aims to align labor and education skills with investments in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor under the Global Gateway strategy.
Additionally, Turkmenistan is expanding its scientific and educational ties. A major international forum in Ashgabat recently facilitated bilateral agreements between Turkmen and Iranian academic institutions, focusing on medical technology, biotechnology, and faculty mobility. Separately, the 26th OSCE Central Asian media conference in Bishkek addressed digital media ethics and information integrity among journalists and government representatives from across the region.
