Turkmenistan international cooperation and development
Overview
Turkmenistan is pursuing diverse international partnerships and domestic development initiatives. The nation is working toward World Trade Organization (WTO) accession through capacity-building training supported by the UNDP and the Russian Federation. Regional integration efforts include the DARYA High-Level Group meetings, which aim to align labor and education skills with investments in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
In addition to regional connectivity, Turkmenistan is strengthening bilateral ties with Japan, focusing on high-tech green industrialization and energy infrastructure, such as gas-to-gasoline plants and petrochemical complexes. The country is also prioritizing environmental sustainability through national forestry programs and the First Caspian environmental summit, which addressed the preservation of the Caspian Sea ecosystem and climate change.
