Turkmenistan aims to expand transport and communications capacity
During a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on July 10, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the necessity of continuously improving the transport and communications sector. Key objectives include increasing the volume of passenger and cargo transportation and enhancing service quality.
Efforts are underway to modernize the railway system's capacity and expand international road freight and transit services. These developments align with the ‘Program for Socio-Economic Development and Investment of Turkmenistan until 2026’, which focuses on modernizing roads that connect domestic regions and extend to neighboring countries.
Structural and institutional reforms are being implemented to create a legal framework suited to new socio-economic conditions. This includes separating state management from economic activities to establish a market-based regulatory system for the transport sector.
