Turkmenistan focuses on strategic partnerships and environmental policy

Turkmenistan is advancing its economic and environmental agendas through international cooperation and domestic sustainability initiatives. The strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan continues to evolve, moving from heavy infrastructure projects toward high-tech, green industrialization and human capital development. Japanese technology and financing from entities such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sojitz, and Itochu have been instrumental in developing the nation’s gas-to-gasoline (GTG) plants, petrochemical complexes, and energy infrastructure.

Domestically, the state is prioritizing environmental preservation through national forestry programs and large-scale greening campaigns. These efforts include the planting of hundreds of thousands of seedlings to expand green belts around cities and villages. On the international stage, Turkmenistan is promoting its environmental agenda, highlighted by the First Caspian environmental summit in the Avaza National tourist zone, which focused on preserving the Caspian Sea ecosystem and combating climate change.
