TUSAŞ discusses NATO defense industry cooperation in Washington

TUSAŞ General Manager Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu participated in a defense industry roundtable hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. The meeting, titled “Strengthening the NATO Defense Industry Base: The Future of Turkish and Allied Defense Production,” focused on Turkey’s aerospace and defense capabilities and opportunities for industrial cooperation among allies.

Demiroğlu highlighted TUSAŞ’s diverse technology portfolio, which includes combat and training aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and satellite and space systems. The discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening global defense supply chains and enhancing the resilience of industrial ties between Turkey and NATO members.

Complementary analysis from CSIS notes that Turkey’s significant investments in its domestic military industry have provided the nation with unprecedented strategic autonomy by reducing dependence on Western weapon systems. The success of platforms such as the Bayraktar TB2 UAV has become a notable tool for diplomatic influence within a multipolar international system.
