Tuscany adds 20 police officers to Livorno and 23 to Lucca area to boost security

Starting in August, 20 new State Police officers will join the Livorno police force as part of a regional plan that will place a total of 181 new officers across all ten Tuscan provinces. The reinforcement aims to increase patrols, improve crime prevention and strengthen the response to criminal activity, according to a joint announcement by regional Lega Toscana officials and local deputies.

In the nearby province of Lucca, police authorities will receive 23 additional agents from mid‑August – nine for the city of Lucca and fourteen for the Versilia coastal area. The increase follows a 36% drop in residential burglaries in the city and a 26% decline province‑wide compared with two years earlier. Officials also announced a €400,000 camera system to monitor key access routes, further supporting the ongoing reduction in thefts and enhancing overall public safety.
