Tuscany general strike set for October 14

A general strike has been proclaimed by Cgil Toscana for Wednesday, October 14, affecting both public and private sectors across the Tuscany region. The mobilization is driven by protests against security packages and solidarity with individuals involved in recent demonstrations regarding Palestine.

Public transportation is expected to face significant disruptions. Autolinee Toscane buses may experience delays or cancellations, with specific work stoppages planned for both traveling staff and office workers. Rail services operated by Trenitalia and Italo may also see delays or schedule changes between 9:01 and 17:00.

In the environmental sector, Plures Alia has announced that essential services will be maintained across 65 municipalities in the provinces of Florence, Pistoia, and Prato. Guaranteed services include the collection and transport of hazardous waste, waste management for hospitals, nursing homes, and schools, as well as the cleaning of tourist areas and museums. Urgent disinfection and pest control services will also remain active.
