Tuscany tourists targeted in luxury watch robberies
Two separate robberies targeting tourists involving luxury watches have been reported in the Tuscany region of Italy.
In Prato, a group of three individuals attacked tourists returning to their hotel during the night. The assailants successfully stole a luxury watch valued at approximately 70,000 euros. Federalberghi Prato expressed concern over the incident, noting that such crimes could damage the city's reputation and the perceived safety of visitors.
In Florence, an English tourist was assaulted in Piazza della Repubblica in front of his wife and daughter. During the attack, a perpetrator forcibly removed a luxury watch valued at roughly 20,000 euros from the victim's wrist. An accomplice used irritant spray to facilitate their escape. Following an investigation involving surveillance footage, the State Police identified and detained suspects at a local B&B shortly after the incident.
