Luxury watch robberies targeting tourists in Italy

Overview

A series of luxury watch robberies targeting tourists has been reported across several Italian regions.

In mid-August, an Israeli tourist was robbed of a Rolex Daytona valued at approximately 50,000 euros near the Duomo in Milan. The suspects fled on foot following a brief struggle.

By late August, similar incidents occurred in Tuscany. In Prato, a group of three individuals stole a watch worth roughly 70,000 euros from tourists returning to their hotel. In Florence, an English tourist was assaulted in Piazza della Repubblica, where a perpetrator forcibly removed a watch valued at 20,000 euros while an accomplice used irritant spray to aid their escape.
