Tuscany wildfires spread across Magliano and Montorsaio, prompting helicopter response
Strong winds fueled a wildfire near Montiano in the Magliano district of Tuscany, scorching about 10 hectares of brush, crops and Mediterranean scrub. Firefighters, volunteer forest‑fire crews and two helicopters – the Drago 125 of the Arezzo fire service and a regional aircraft – were deployed to contain the flames and protect two agriturismi.
A second blaze broke out in Montorsaio, Campagnatico, and a third near Sant’Andrea, Magliano. Both fires started in dry vegetation and required teams from the Grosseto fire headquarters, regional forest‑fire volunteers, a helicopter from the Tuscany fleet, the Carabinieri Forestali and municipal police to manage the scene and keep roads safe.
