Tutankhamun’s tomb may contain hidden structures, new survey suggests

New geophysical surveys have reignited questions regarding whether Tutankhamun’s tomb, KV62, contains hidden structures or corridors beyond its known walls. Researchers utilized ground-penetrating radar from within the tomb alongside microgravity measurements conducted on the surrounding ground to identify potential anomalies.

The microgravity survey involved over 1,200 readings across approximately 35 square meters. Data indicates certain anomalies form right-angled structures aligned with the north wall of the burial chamber. One specific feature, identified as anomaly 7, contains a low-density zone with a square, higher-density area inside it. While these signals suggest the presence of rubble-filled passages or other spaces, they do not yet confirm the discovery of a new room or doorway.
