Tuzla Civil Protection warns of high wildfire risk

The Civil Protection Service of Tuzla has issued an urgent warning to citizens, farmers, and forestry workers due to an increased risk of open-space fires caused by prolonged drought and high temperatures.

Authorities have strictly prohibited burning weeds, dry grass, or low vegetation, as well as lighting fires near forests, weekend cottages, or settlements. Leaving barbecues or other fire sources unattended is also forbidden. Officials warn that in dry and windy conditions, even a small spark can quickly escalate into a fire that threatens lives, property, and the environment.

Legal consequences for violating these regulations include fines ranging from 500 to 1,500 KM for individuals. In cases involving significant damage or danger to people and property, criminal sanctions may also apply under the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Citizens are urged to report smoke or suspicious activities immediately to the fire department (123) or civil protection (121).
