Tuzla prosecutors indict seven over fatal retirement home fire

The Tuzla Cantonal Prosecutor's Office has issued an indictment against seven individuals following a fire at a retirement home in Tuzla that resulted in the deaths of 15 residents.

The indictment names former director Mirsad Bakalovic, Zinaida Razic Halilovic, a service head responsible for work organization, and Mustafa Azabagic, a fire protection and occupational safety officer. Additionally, three responsible individuals from the company 'Inproz' Tuzla are charged in connection with their roles in developing a fire hazard assessment for the facility in 2021.

The defendants are accused of committing serious criminal offenses against public safety and property by failing to implement prescribed fire protection and social safety measures between April 2021 and November 2025. Bakalovic also faces charges for the extended criminal offense of abuse of position and authority.
