TV Globo announces cast for “Filhos do Divino” sequel

TV Globo has announced the cast for “Filhos do Divino”, a production serving as a continuation of the original telenovela “Avenida Brasil”. The new series, written by João Emanuel Carneiro and a team of collaborators including Vincent Villari and Eliane Garcia, is set in the fictional Divino neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro.

Returning actors include Cauã Reymond as Jorginho, Débora Falabella as Nina/Rita, Adriana Esteves as Carminha, Murilo Benício as Tufão, and Marcos Caruso as Leleco. Drico Alves has been cast as Juninho. The plot follows the reappearance of Carminha following the tragic death of Monalisa in a car accident, an event that sparks suspicion among several characters.

The production is scheduled to replace the current soap opera, “Quem Ama Cuida”, starting January 25. While much of the cast is confirmed, the network has not yet finalized which actress will play the antagonist to Carminha, with Patrícia Pillar and Taís Araújo being considered.
