Twilight of the Dead wraps filming as final Romero zombie story

Filming has officially concluded on ‘Twilight of the Dead’, a project intended to serve as the final chapter in George A. Romero’s influential zombie saga. Based on a treatment written by Romero prior to his death, the film was revived in 2021 following an announcement by his widow, Suzanne Romero.

Directed by Doran and Yoav Paz, the production wrapped in Kentucky this September. The story is set on a decimated Earth where the remnants of humanity are caught between warring factions and an evolving undead threat. The film features Kate Beckinsale and Betty Gabriel in lead roles, supported by a cast including Abigail London, John D. Hickman, and Cooper Barnes.

Special effects makeup veteran Greg Nicotero, a longtime collaborator of Romero, is handling the makeup FX. The production aims to honor Romero’s original vision while providing a modern horror experience. There is currently no official release window for the film.
