Vancouver police officer charged in $3M fraud and theft investigation

Kalwinder Singh Dosanjh, a 26-year veteran of the Vancouver Police Department and founder of the KidsPlay Foundation, has been charged with multiple criminal offences following a two-and-a-half-year covert investigation. The charges against Dosanjh include four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and one count of breach of trust by a public officer.

Police allege the criminal activity, which is related to housing developments, occurred between 2017 and 2025. Investigators report that 19 victims have identified losses totaling approximately $3 million. A co-accused, Sarabjit Singh Gill, faces three counts of fraud and three counts of theft over $5,000.

Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai stated that the situation is “deeply concerning” and noted that the investigation may uncover additional victims. Dosanjh has been suspended from the department. Through his legal counsel, Dosanjh maintains his innocence and asserts that he has committed no crime.
