Two convicted in death of NFL reporter Adan Manzano

Two individuals have been convicted in connection with the death of Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City. Manzano was in New Orleans to cover Super Bowl LIX when he was found unresponsive in a Kenner, Louisiana, hotel room on February 5, 2025.

Danette Colbert, 49, was convicted of negligent homicide and racketeering. Prosecutors alleged that Colbert and her accomplice, 35-year-old Rickey White, operated a long-running criminal scheme in the French Quarter. The operation reportedly targeted tourists by luring them to hotel rooms, using drugs to render them unconscious, and stealing their financial information and belongings.

While Colbert was convicted of negligent homicide, White was found guilty of racketeering but acquitted of involuntary manslaughter. An autopsy indicated that Manzano died from asphyxiation after ingesting alcohol and Xanax. Surveillance footage showed Colbert accompanying Manzano to his hotel before leaving him alone in the room.
