Convictions in death of Telemundo reporter

A Louisiana jury has convicted Danette Colbert and Rickey White in connection with the death of Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old Telemundo sports reporter. Manzano was found unresponsive in a Kenner hotel room on February 5, 2025, while in the New Orleans area to cover Super Bowl LIX. An autopsy determined his death resulted from asphyxiation after ingesting a combination of alcohol and Xanax.

Prosecutors alleged that Colbert and White operated a criminal enterprise in the French Quarter that targeted tourists. The scheme involved luring victims to hotel rooms, using drugs to incapacitate them, and stealing their money and belongings.

Colbert was convicted of both racketeering and negligent homicide. While White was also convicted of racketeering, he was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter.
