Two drivers investigated for speeding over 200 km/h in Torre Pacheco
The Guardia Civil is investigating two drivers for alleged road safety crimes after they were caught driving at extreme speeds on the RM-19 highway in Torre Pacheco. During a speed surveillance campaign conducted by the DGT between August 3 and August 9, a patrol from the Cartagena Traffic Detachment detected the vehicles traveling at 211 km/h and 202 km/h.
Both drivers were exceeding the generic speed limit of 100 km/h by more than double. Under Article 379.1 of the Penal Code, offenses involving excessive speeding can result in prison sentences ranging from 3 to 6 months, fines of 6 to 12 months, or community service lasting 31 to 90 days, alongside the suspension of driving licenses for 1 to 4 years.
