Two Drownings Claim Lives in Greece’s Karpathos and Achaea

Two separate drowning incidents occurred on Friday in Greece. On the island of Karpathos, a 71‑year‑old Czech tourist was rescued unconscious from the Limniatis beach at Pigi and later pronounced dead at the General Hospital of Karpathos. In the mainland region of Achaea, a 75‑year‑old Greek man was pulled from the sea at Monodendri, transferred to the General Hospital of Patras and also found dead.

Both the Karpathos and Patras coastal authorities have opened preliminary investigations and ordered autopsies to determine the exact causes of death. First‑aid responders and rescue services were dispatched to each site, and the incidents are being handled by the respective local maritime police units.
