Two Dutch nationals missing after floods in Nepal and China

Two Dutch nationals, identified as 51-year-old Maaike and 29-year-old Christiaan, are among those missing following severe flooding in Nepal and China. The individuals were part of an 80-person pilgrimage group organized by the Isha Foundation, traveling from Kathmandu toward Mount Kailash in Tibet.

The group was reportedly near the China-Nepal border crossing when the floods occurred. A spokesperson for the Isha Foundation, led by Indian yogi Sadhguru, stated that contact with the group has been lost. Sadhguru noted that the scale of the destruction is significant, mentioning that a customs office the group leader had reached just minutes before the disaster was “swept away” by the water.

Additionally, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that a third Dutch national, a woman residing in Nepal, is also missing.
