Two elderly residents die in Ahmedić care home fire

Two elderly residents have died following a fire at the ‘Ahmedić’ elderly care home in Mosorovac, near Lukavac. The victims, who had sustained severe burns and inhalation injuries, passed away at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.

The Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office has ordered forensic autopsies to determine the exact causes of death. An investigation is currently underway, with authorities having identified numerous irregularities regarding fire protection, user safety, and social and health care measures within the facility.

Edin Ahmedić, the owner and responsible person for the institution, was arrested following the incident. He faces suspicion of committing serious criminal offenses against public safety and property by causing general danger. However, the Lukavac Municipal Court denied the prosecution's request for one month of detention, allowing him to remain free while the investigation continues. The prosecutor's office has indicated it will appeal this decision.
