Two Fatal Drownings Reported in Greek Coastal Areas
A 75‑year‑old man was pulled unconscious from the sea at Kryonerio beach in Alexandroupoli. Rescue teams from the local coast guard performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he was declared dead after being taken to Komotini General Hospital.
A separate incident involved a 46‑year‑old foreign national who was found unconscious in the Marina of Vasiliki, Lefkada. He was located after a private individual alerted authorities, rescued by the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Naval Hydrographic Service, and transported to the Vasiliki Health Center where he was pronounced dead.
Both incidents prompted investigations by the respective maritime authorities.
