Italian Carabinieri seize ~1,000 cannabis plants and arrest suspects in drug raids

The Carabinieri carried out a series of operations across several Italian regions. In Catignano and Cepagatti (province of Pescara) officers arrested a 44‑year‑old man and seized about 1,000 illegal cannabis plants, along with dozens of grams of hashish and marijuana. The suspect was placed under house arrest pending a direct‑order trial.

Other raids resulted in the seizure of marijuana, hashish and related cultivation equipment in Erice (Sicily) and the confiscation of weapons, knives and illegal drugs in Fermo, Santa Teresa Gallura and other towns. Several individuals were detained for offenses ranging from drug possession for personal use to armed robbery and fraud, including two women in Lignano accused of a fake charity scheme.

Overall, the operations involved searches of homes, vehicles and agricultural sites, the confiscation of drugs, weapons and cash, and the filing of criminal complaints against dozens of suspects.
