Two injured in A5 motorway truck collision near Weinheim

Two truck drivers were injured following a serious traffic accident on the A5 motorway near Weinheim.

The incident occurred when a 69-year-old driver of a 12-ton truck, traveling toward Heidelberg, collided with a trailer parked on the hard shoulder that was being used as a warning sign for oncoming traffic. The impact caused the trailer to be torn from the vehicle and pushed into the left lane. A second truck driver was unable to stop in time and collided head-on with the first vehicle, which had been rotated 180 degrees by the force of the crash.

Emergency services deployed a rescue helicopter to transport the 69-year-old driver to a hospital. The severity of the injuries has not yet been disclosed by the Mannheim Police Headquarters. Traffic at the scene has since been redirected.
