Traffic accidents on the A5 motorway

Overview

Separate traffic accidents occurred on the A5 motorway in Germany during late August and early September 2026.

On August 31, a collision involving two trucks took place near Weinheim. A 12-ton truck struck a trailer parked on the hard shoulder, leading to a head-on collision with a second truck. Two drivers were injured, and a rescue helicopter was deployed to transport a 69-year-old driver to the hospital.

On September 4, a three-car collision occurred near Ettlingen, specifically near Bruchhausen. The accident resulted in injuries to six people, including four adults and two children. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, including a seven-kilometer backlog, and required the full closure of the motorway between the Ettlingen and Rastatt Nord exits for investigation and cleaning.
