Two killed in Israeli strike in southern Lebanon

Rescuers accompanied by a Lebanese army patrol have recovered the bodies of two men killed by an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon. The individuals had been missing since Tuesday after being caught in the crossfire between the city of Nabatieh and the community of Zouetar as Sarkia, an area currently under Israeli military control.

While a framework agreement signed in June led to a relative de-escalation, Israel continues to conduct strikes in Lebanon, citing ongoing security threats from Hezbollah. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have recently intensified operations in the Nabatieh region, targeting Hezbollah's underground infrastructure.

The conflict escalated significantly following Hezbollah's rocket attacks against Israel on March 2, which were described as retaliation for the death of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei on February 28. According to authorities in Beirut, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have resulted in more than 4,300 deaths since that period.
