Two Men Shot Dead in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico; Investigation Hindered by Residents

Two men, identified as Gerardo (25) and Rodrigo (45), were shot multiple times while traveling in a Jeep with Texas plates on the Santa Clara del Cobre‑Ario de Rosales road. The vehicle was riddled with at least 45 AK‑47 caliber 7.62×39 mm casings, and the victims' bodies remained in the driver and passenger seats.

The attack occurred near the Mariscos La Orilla shop and the Zirahuén turnoff. Unofficial reports suggest the victims were from the Paramuén community and may have provided tow‑service work, though municipal authorities have not confirmed this. When the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) forensic team arrived, a group of local residents blocked access to the Jeep and prevented the removal of the bodies to the forensic service. Despite the presence of the Mexican Army, the Guardia Nacional and municipal police, the investigators were forced to withdraw due to the hostile environment.
