Two Palestinians Killed in Settler Raid on Deir Jarir, West Bank

On Monday night, Israeli settlers entered the West Bank town of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah, and shot two Palestinian residents dead – 53‑year‑old Awda Farakhneh, a village council member, and 26‑year‑old Ahmed Abu Mukho – while three others were seriously injured. The raid was carried out under the protection of Israeli army units, which also blocked an ambulance trying to transport victims to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

Villagers reported that settlers arrived claiming to search for stolen livestock, then forcibly seized dozens of sheep. Survivors described a coordinated operation in which soldiers and police shielded the settlers. “It’s a partnership between the army and the settlers,” said Adel Rashid, father of one of the victims. Witness Saber Ajaj recalled finding his relative after the shooting: “The moment I put him in the car I knew that he was dead.”

The incident was part of a wider surge in settler‑related violence across the occupied West Bank, including the burning of homes and a mosque, arrests of local residents, and the issuance of demolition notices. Palestinian authorities condemned the attacks and highlighted the ongoing siege-like conditions imposed on Deir Jarir and neighboring villages.
