Brazilian Pilot Henrique Guariente Killed in Marília Plane Crash

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, a small twin‑engine Beechcraft 58 crashed shortly after take‑off from Marília Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft descended into a field of the Associação Atlética Banco do Brasil (AABB) about one kilometre from the runway.

The accident claimed the lives of both pilots on board: 47‑year‑old Henrique Guariente Filho, a native of Rolândia, Paraná, who had been conducting private flights in Marília for more than five years, and 24‑year‑old Gabriel Maloni Mendes da Cruz of Jales, São Paulo, an employee of Grupo Ponzan Alimentos. A third crew member, 28‑year‑old pilot Pablo Portella Ilwoski, survived with serious injuries and was taken to the Hospital das Clínicas.

Emergency responders fought a fire caused by the impact and recovered the victims’ bodies, which were severely burned. The cause of the crash is pending investigation by Brazil’s Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA). Guariente leaves a wife and a young child; funeral arrangements were scheduled for the following days.
