Two Polish priests, Zbigniew Szewczyk and Jan Tusień, pass away in July 2026

Zbigniew Szewczyk, a 65‑year‑old priest of the Kielcian diocese, died on 8 July 2026 after 41 years of service. Funeral rites were held on 12‑13 July in the villages of Nowiny, Piekoszów and Imbramowice, with participation from bishops Andrzej Kaleta, Marian Florczyk, Piotr Noga and about 90 clergy members.

Jan Tusień, a 80‑year‑old priest‑legend who served the parishes of Bieliny and St Wojciech in Kielce, died on 12 July 2026 after 54 years of ministry. He had performed military service alongside the blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko in the 1960s. A funeral Mass was celebrated by Bishop Jan Piotrowski on 15 July at the churches of St Wojciech in Kielce and St Mikołaj in Dębno.
