Czech Republic records several serious road accidents with multiple injuries

A serious two‑vehicle collision on road I/24 between Horusice and Fraheliž left three people injured, including a 60‑year‑old man with chest and leg injuries, a 70‑year‑old woman with chest injuries and another senior who declined hospital transport. Emergency services, including a helicopter, responded.

On the D1 highway near Brno, a van crashed at full speed into a parked Tatra truck, injuring the truck driver and the van driver with severe injuries that required helicopter evacuation. Police are examining whether the stopped truck was properly sign‑posted.

Further north, a Mazda veered off the D5 motorway between Sulkov and Nýřany, overturned and became trapped among trees. The driver, born in 1954, sustained moderate injuries, while the female passenger suffered minor head injuries. Both were treated and taken to hospital; police ruled out alcohol involvement.

A fatal accident also closed the I/13 road near Bílý Kostel in the Liberec region, prompting authorities to shut the route for safety while investigations continue.
