Two women killed in Romania crash during dog rescue mission

Tributes are being paid to Rachael Harvey-Purkiss, an Essex woman who died in a vehicle accident in Romania on Thursday, September 24. Harvey-Purkiss was participating in a dog rescue mission, transporting a group of dogs to new homes in France.

She died alongside Allison Condon, a resident of Northamptonshire. Reports indicate that eight rescue dogs were also lost in the crash.

Community groups, including Broomfield Women’s FC and the Chelmsford Litter Wombles, have shared memories of Harvey-Purkiss, describing her as a compassionate individual dedicated to animal welfare and community service. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support her husband.
